Basketball Backgrounds For Yearbook
Are my stats good enough to get into the following colleges?
Hi, I am currently a junior at a prestigious private, Jesuit (Catholic) high school. I currently maintain a 3.3-3.6 GPA weighted, 23 ACT, and I am of Hispanic background. I have good extra-curriculars (Yearbook, German National Honors Society, German Club, Varsity Basketball Manager, Writing Internship for local high school sports website) and I have close to 50-70 hours of community service.
I am taking the SAT and ACT probably once more, but for now where do I stand with these schools?
DePaul
Temple
Loyola Chicago
Northeastern
Syracuse
Rider
University of Maryland-College Park
Is there anything I need to work on? My #1 choice is Northeastern followed by Temple, DePaul, and Syracuse.
I think you have a pretty good list, but there are some things you could do to improve your chances your reaches. From the stats you gave, Syracuse and Maryland are definitely reaches. However, nothing is impossible and you shouldn’t give up.
First, make sure you have the best possible academic schedule for your senior year. What do you plan to study in college? Think about what you might want to major in and take advanced coursework in those areas. Do not overwhelm yourself, but attempt to challange yourself.
Secondly, definitely take the SAT and ACT one more time. If you could get yourACt up to about 26 or 27, that would put you in a better position.
