I have 2 word problems I just can’t figure out?
1) 796 fans came to the championship game of Eagles Invitational Basketball Tournament which produced an admission income of $3042. If the adult admission price was $4.50 and a childs admission price was $3.25 how many adults and how many kids were present?
2) at a walmart supercenter 7 pounds of apples and 3 pounds of grape cost $15.18 and 5 pounds of apples and 5 pounds of grapes cost $16.50. What is the cost per pound?
No. of adult admission—x:
$4.50x + $3.25(796 – x) = $3,042.00
18x + 13(796 – x) = 12,168
18x + 10,348 – 13x = 12,168
5x = 1,820
x = 364
No. of child admission:
= 796 – 364
= 432
Answer: admissions: adult, 364; child, 432

= $1.98 – $0.66
