How long does it take for basketball shoes to lose their elasticity?

I’ve heard about two years after they’re manufactured, basketball shoes lose their elasticity and actually end up hurting your feet rather than helping. Is this true, and if not two years, how long?

How often you wear them and how much you weigh and how hard you play are all factors (as well as growth) in how long your shoes last . i never had any last past 8 mens league games so it depends on the factors
