Basketball Training Drills For Children

does anyone coach a youth basketball team?
i need to interview someone who is a youth basketball coach and i was wondering if anyone one had the time to answer some of these questions i have.
1. how long have you been coaching?
2. what is the most affective workout to use on adolescents?
3.what condition workouts do you use on your team?
4. what’s the most challenging thing about coaching a team of young children?
5. what is the most rewarding thing about coaching a team?
6. what do you do to your kids who need help progressing?
7. whats the most important factor in training children?
8. what kind of drills do you use on your kids?
this is for a school project and i would really appreciate it if someone could answer these questions. it has to be a youth basketball coach
preface: im only 20 and a sophomore at clemson. i coach a 17 and under aau team during the spring/summer, but ive run some basketball camps with young ones. hopefully 17 and under will work, if not then o well.
1. just kicked of my second season at practice tonite.
2. im not too sure what u mean by most affective workout, but if u mean a physical workout, then i like to make them run “16′s.” which are timed runs (1min) that have the players run the width of court 16 times (8 down and backs). i also strongly encourage natural workouts: pushups, crunches, and “supermans” (a back exercise)
3. the previously stated 16′s and variations such as 8 in 30 sec or 4 in 15 sec. also scrimmaging full court with less than 5 players on a team.
4. well my guys aren’t young (17), but ive run some summer camps with young ones and id say getting them to listen and comprehend instructions is most difficult.
5. seeing the players grow, as players and people
6. well at age 17, u just let them know that they need to do some work on their own and correct them on things they’re doing wrong.
7. once again, i coach 17 yr olds, sorry. but, speaking from my camps’ experiences id say repetition is huge with the young ones.
8. with the young ones: stationary ball handling drills, layup drills, and stationary passing drills with a partner. and knockout is always a hit!
