basketball training equipment

Are your workouts effective for you to get in shape for basketball? Do you feel that you don’t have the resources to get it done? Well, if you answered yes to either one of these questions then you must make sure that you have a sound workout plan in order to be competitive! I have included a great plan here for you to get in good shape for basketball fast and you can do it right at home.

Since you are short on resources and maybe don’t have the finances to furnish a weight room or buy a gym membership then you have to train smart. The best way to train your body for optimal fitness and strength have to involve you mastering your own body resistance in the first place. Now having said this the only piece of equipment that I am going to recommend for this particular program is a single kettlebell of moderate resistance. As you may know by now the ancient kettlebell is a hard hitting strength and conditioning device that has been around for centuries and used by the world’s greatest athletes. Its versatile, affordable, durable, and hard hitting in terms of your fitness and power. You can make do with getting your body ready for basketball with a single kettlebell.

The Kettlebell Swing: This is the most basic strength endurance kettlebell lift that you can perform with the ancient kettlebell. This lift involves you having to swing the bell from between your legs up to chest level back and forth like a pendulum. This action is achieved by you having to implement a technique in kettlebell training that is known as the hip snap. The hip snap is a technique that is performed by you constantly flexing and extending at both your hips and knees in order to build momentum to swing the bell. This swinging of the bell involves hundreds of your muscles and achieves exertion through total body effort. This lift is profound in the development of your basketball fitness program. Remember this is just one of the base kettlebell lifts. You can purchase a moderately heavy bell for the price of what it would cost you to buy a couple of years in a gym membership.

Body Weight Exercises: This is the other part of the equation involving your workouts and how you get in shape for basketball. By implementing body weight exercises such as burpees which are a form of calisthenic, and squat jumps which are a form of plyometrics, you cover both the conditioning and explosive elements of your training program. These exercises obviously require no equipment and are highly effective in getting you into optimal shape. All you need to pull these off is some flat open floor space and the willingness to work. This is one of the best ways for you to get in shape for the coming basketball season. If you haven’t already included kettlebell training and these other tactics into your current basketball training program then get started today. Feel free to access the rest of my articles on the matter for free. Remember that most anyone can train hard, but only champions train smart my friend!

Excerpt: A basketball is an inflated ball used in the game of basketball. Basketballs typically range in size from very small promotional items possibly only a few inches in diameter to extra large balls nearly a foot in diameter used in training exercises to increase the skill of players. The standard size of a basketball in the NBA is 29.5 inches in circumference. Nearly all basketballs have an inflatable inner rubber bladder, generally wrapped in layers of fiber and then covered with a tacky surface made either from leather (traditional), rubber, or a synthetic composite. As in most inflatable balls, there is a small opening to allow the pressure to be increased or decreased. The surface of the ball is nearly always divided by “ribs” that are recessed below the surface of the ball in a variety of configurations and are generally a contrasting color. An orange surface with black ribs and a possible logo is the traditional color scheme of basketballs but they are sold in various colors. Balls are generally designated for indoor (generally made of leather or absorbent composites), or all-surface use (generally made of rubber or durable composites, also known as Indoor/Outdoor balls). Indoor balls tend to be considerably more expensive than all-surface balls due to cost of materials. In addition, brand new all-leather indoor balls must be “broken in” first to achieve optimal grip before use in competition. The abrasiveness of asphalt and the dirt and moisture present in an outdoor setting will usually ruin an indoor ball within a very short period of time, which is why an indoor/outdoor ball is recommended for recreational players. Aside from the court and the baskets, the basketball is the only piece of equipment necessary to play th… More:

 Basketball: Its Origin and Development

Basketball: Its Origin and Development

$15.95

James Naismith was teaching physical education at the Young Men’s Christian Association Training College in Springfield, Massachusetts, and felt discouraged because calisthenics and gymnastics didn’t engage his students. What was needed was an indoor wintertime game that combined recreation and competition. One evening he worked out the fundamentals of a game that would quickly catch on. Two peach half-bushel baskets gave the name to the brand new sport in late 1891. Basketball: Its Origin and Development was written by the inventor himself, who was inspired purely by the joy of play. Naismith, born in northern Ontario in 1861, gave up the ministry to preach clean living through sport. He describes Duck on the Rock, a game from his Canadian childhood, the creative reasoning behind his basket game, the eventual refinement of rules and development of equipment, the spread of amateur and professional teams throughout the world, and the growth of women’s basketball (at first banned to male spectators because the players wore bloomers). Naismith lived long enough to see basketball included in the Olympics in 1936. Three years later he died, after nearly forty years as head of the physical education department at the University of Kansas. This book, originally published in 1941, carries a new introduction by William J. Baker, a professor of history at the University of Maine, Orono. He is the author of Jesse Owens: An American Life and Sports in the Western World.
