canadian football league rules
Any other Canadians out there HATE the CFL?

It being Super Bowl Sunday, I think the time is right to mention how much I despise CFL football. I wish every year for the league to fold. Any other Canadians feel the same way? NFL forever!!!

p.s. The worst part about the CFL is that it ruins high school and university football here in Canada. I can’t watch uni or hs football aping the pathetic rules of the CFL. If the CFL wants to exist, at least let high schools and universities adopt NFL rules. I don’t want to see crap CFL rules at my university games!

yes

 Arena Football

Arena Football

$49

Arena Football is a variety of Gridiron football. It is a proprietary game played indoors on a smaller field than American or Canadian outdoor football, resulting in a faster and higher-scoring game. The sport was invented in 1981, and patented in 1987, by James F. Foster, Jr., a former executive of the National Football League and the United States Football League. Though not the only variant of indoor football, it is the most widely known, and the one on which most other forms of modern indoor football are at least partially based. Two leagues have played under the official arena football rules: the Arena Football League, which played 22 seasons from 1987 through 2009 and arenafootball2, which was founded in 2000. Arena Football 1, is the league’s new name, confederation of former AFL and af2 teams that plans to begin play in 2010, will also presumably follow the official arena football rulebook.

Excerpt: Edward Wayne LeBaron, Jr. (born January 7, 1930, in San Rafael, California) is a former American football quarterback in the 1950s and early 1960s in the National Football League. LeBaron graduated from Oakdale High School in Oakdale, California and went on to the College of the Pacific (now the University of the Pacific). He played there from 1946 to 1949, lettering all four years and achieving All-American honors in 1949 after leading them to an undefeated season. He was a two-way, 60 minute player, as a quarterback on offense, safety on defense, and punter on special teams. Following graduation, LeBaron served as a United States Marine Corps lieutenant in the Korean Conflict. He was wounded twice and was decorated with the Purple Heart. For his heroic actions on the front lines he was awarded the Bronze Star. Due to his dimunitive size, 5 feet, 7 inches, and leadership skills from his military service he was sometimes known as the “Littlest General”. LeBaron was drafted in the tenth round (123rd overall) of the 1950 NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins and played with them through 1959, except for 1954 when he played in the Canadian Football League. He signed with the Calgary Stampeders because his college coach, Larry Siemering from the College of the Pacific, was coaching there. In his seven seasons with the Redskins he started 55 of a possible 72 games at quarterback (he played in 70 of those 72 games). He was also the primary punter for his first three seasons with Washington (he would punt 171 times for a total of 6,995 yards in five NFL season, with 164 of those coming in 1952, 1953, and 1955.) To build the roster of the expansion Cowboys, Dallas was allowed to pick certain players from certain teams per league rules. Clint Murchiso… More:

Nicht dargestellt. Auszug: Rugby union is a full contact team sport, a form of football which originated in England in the early 19th century. One of the codes of rugby football, it is based on running with the ball in hand. It is played with an oval-shaped ball, outdoors on a level field, usually with a grass surface, up to 100 metres (330 ft) long and 70 metres (230 ft) wide. On each goal line are H-shaped goal posts. William Webb Ellis is often credited with the invention of running with the ball in hand in 1823 at Rugby School when he allegedly caught the ball while playing football and ran towards the opposition goal. Although the evidence to support the Ellis story is doubtful, it was immortalised at the school with a plaque unveiled in 1895. In 1848, the first rules were written by pupils; other significant events in the early development of rugby include the Blackheath Club’s decision to leave the Football Association in 1863 and the split between rugby union and rugby league in 1895. The International Rugby Board (IRB) has been the governing body for rugby union since its formation in 1886. Currently, 115 national unions are members of the IRB. In 1995, the IRB removed restrictions on payments to players, making the game openly professional at the highest level for the first time. The Rugby World Cup, first held in 1987, takes place every four years, with the winner of the tournament receiving the Webb Ellis Cup. The Six Nations in Europe and the Tri Nations in the southern hemisphere are major international competitions held annually. Major domestic competitions include the Top 14 in France, the Guinness Premiership in England, the Currie Cup in South Africa, and the ITM Cup in New Zealand. Other transnational competitions
