Ice Hockey Stick History

Hockey History
Hockey is definitely popular today and we can clearly understand why. This game is definitely spectacular and fast and older than most people think. It was thousands of years ago that all started. Games featuring use of balls, rocks and sticks were really popular even before you thought they were. Such games stood out as highly popular in regions like Europe, Egypt and South America. Contrary to what you might believe, the real roots of hockey stand in England. Competitions between a lot of villages were held at that time. One team could have even had 100 players. Games lasted for days and injuries were always serious.
1860 is the year when modern hockey history actually started. That was when Eton University started to formulate a set of rules. In the same time in North America the same game started to be played more. It was in Montreal that we saw the first ever hockey game in 1875. College students squared off then. An association appeared and we saw new rules being developed. Hockey history definitely was changing. Time passed and popularity continued to grow, thus seeing the first championship of the world held in 1883. Rules did change dramatically from what we saw then and protective equipment started to become necessary.
Although you might have not known this, hockey grew much in popularity thanks to Olympic Games. In 1924 we saw it played there for the first time ever. One important hockey history moment took place at Olympic Games when one American college amateur team defeated the huge Russian favorites. “Miracle on Ice” is the name that the moment gained. At that point in time we saw an increase in popularity seen in America. NHL appeared in 1917 and today it includes 30 different teams. 20 of them are American and the rest Canadian. This translates towards our days when the popularity of modern hockey is huge. This game brings in billions in revenues and is constantly generating more. We do not know what levels will be reached but it is sure that there will be no reason why popularity would not rise. The information was given by a hockey lover who is also a contractor in designing home security. He is also good at gas fitting Auckland as well as forex trading.
