lacrosse center capacity
Lacrosse tips…for beginners?

I have a lacrosse scrimmage on monday. I’m in 9th grade, and it’s my first year playing. ( We’ve only been practicing for a week.. ) I’m SOOOOO nervous. I know the BASIC positions. Attack, d wings, home, keeper, center..

But I have a few questions…

I know that one d-wing always stays back behind the restraining line, because you can only have 7 up and 8 down. So how do you know which of the two d wings stays back ?

Also, If a d wing is staying back while the other team has possession, .. but then a d-wing gains possession, can they cross over the other restraining line and score a goal?

Last, Is it better to be a d-wing, if you don’t have great lung capacity, or running strength.

1. either of you can, just make sure one stays back. to be a defensive player (d-wing counts) their should be communication going on a lot. so before each draw, communicate with the other d-wing player… you can tell them that who ever’s closest should cross the line or whoever has the ball should cross and the other stay back. you can also communicate during the game if your not sure.
2. yes, a d-wing can score a goal and play offense (if the other’s behind the line), but their main objective is to help low defenders clear the ball away from their goalie and get it to the offensive side.
3.good question…well, if you arent the d wing that usually stays behind the restraining line, then you’ll probably be running up and down the field often. plus d wing requires good footwork to have the ability to stay on your girl (offender), so if you don’t like having to follow a player around or cant sprint well then d-wing may not be for you. of course there’s always time to progress…
…..it’s always good to ask questions about your sport, and lacrosse is a great one! if you feel defensive-wing isnt your thing, then try different positions and learn what it takes to do them. your first years in lacrosse should be the time to settle on a praticular position and master it throughout the years…good luck

Excerpt: Pepsi Center – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Pepsi Center was constructed as part of a large six-year sporting venue upgrade in Denver along with Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies, and Invesco Field, home of the Denver Broncos. The complex was constructed to be readily accessible. The arena is situated at Speer Boulevard, a main thoroughfare in downtown Denver, and is served by a nearby exit off Interstate 25. A light rail station is on the western side of the complex. Ground was broken for the arena on November 20, 1997, on the 4.6-acre site. Its completion in October 1999 was marked by a Celine Dion concert. Capacity for the building is listed at 19,309 for basketball games, 18,007 for hockey and lacrosse, and 17,417 for arena football games. Also included in the complex are a basketball practice facility used by the Nuggets, and the Blue Sky Grill, a restaurant accessible from within and outside the Center itself. The atrium of the building houses a suspended sculpture depicting various hockey and basketball athletes in action poses. Before the construction of Pepsi Center, the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche played in McNichols Sports Arena, a building that has since been torn down to serve as a parking lot for nearby Invesco Field.
