Lacrosse For Dummies
Should i play lacrosse or run spring track?
I am a very good track runner, I run cross country and winter track, I am very good at both, my mile time is 4 52 and so on, I am one of the best runners in my school. But I also enjoy playing lacrosse. I am a decent lacrosse player but I am not nearly close to being the best player. I would play jv on lacrosse and junior year which is next year i would play varsity but i dont want to be like a blocking dummy for the bettter players. I am a sophmore in high school. I really enjoy both but i am very confused, both coaches are pressuring me, I want to do track cause im really good but i want to do lacrosse too because i already run a few seasons and i want to play lacrosse for the other but i really dont know. Its neutral, my opinion, so please give me your honest opinion!!!
Ahhhh.. I’m having the same problem, except I’m a better lacrosse player than a pole vaulter/hurdler. For me, I’m doing lacrosse in the spring because its what I’m better at AND what I like better. Its a matter of preferance, but for me, track isn’t so much fun because the act of running is not fun for me, and running is the sport. To me, the only fun part about track is the great people you meet and the feeling you get when you win or accomplish something. Lacrosse, on the other hand, is fun to me. The ACT of playing lacrsse is fun for me. Working as a team, the feeling you get not only from winning, but when you work like a well oiled machine and things are as smooth as can be. Its like on a fast break, a 4 on 3, when you make 3 passes right in front of the goal and just pop the ball into cage. Or when your playing defense and your man beats you but all of a sudden you turn around and see him with his @$$ in the grass because your slide came with perfect timing.
However, if find this kind of passion in track, I would tell you, without a doubt, to stick to track. Do not do what you are better at; do what you like best. Also consider playing time- if you like lacrosse but know you’ll be playing only 2 minutes a game, you’ll have to consider if this will effect the amount of fun your having. That’s what its all about- fun and enjoyment
