Soccer Leagues In Houston

Houston, Texas is a phenomenally large city and it boasts a long list of fun filled activities, fascinating landmarks and interesting sights. Although the central downtown area of Houston is one that attracts a great deal of attention from visitors you will discover that the west Houston communities can add a special flavor to any Texas style vacation. There are many top restaurants and shops in the western Houston communities and there are also a number of little known wonders to explore.
Here is a short list of some west Houston highlights that you may want to consider adding to your personal vacation itinerary.
At 6025 Richmond Avenue you will find one of the oddest sculptures in the US. This 50 foot metal saxophone is literally made of old VW Beetles. While Beetle fans may consider the imposing monument a bit sacrilegious most people adore the quirky, offbeat humor and you have to give credit to the artist for creating such a uniquely different work of art. The saxophone used to be the landmark of a popular restaurant, but alas, the eatery has now been closed for a number of years. Richmond Avenue is just to the west of downtown Houston near the Bellaire community and is easily accessible from I-10.
If quirky sights are something you enjoy then West Houston has yet another landmark attraction for your viewing pleasure. Travel I-45 to the Memorial Drive exit and then drive west for approximately a mile. You will go past the N. Shepherd Drive turnoff and then go right onto Malone Street where you will discover a pop culture icon known as “The Beer Can House”. Yep, it’s a house made from nothing but beer cans and their pull tabs. Even the curtains and fencing around the yard are constructed from these materials, and the original owners of the home reportedly drank the beer from each can used to create this very unique structure. Worth the trip? Of course, after all how many beer can homes are there in the world?
Head southwest from the center of Houston and you will find the growing community of Cinco Ranch. This thriving metropolis is also the home of the Cinco Ranch Day Spa where Houston tourists can indulge in the delightful, self pampering treatments that are offered. Full beauty and massage services are available and the costs are very reasonable. We all know that any road trip or vacation should include at least one spa visit and the staff at Cinco Ranch is dedicated to making your stay a truly “fabulous, diva moment”.
If you travel along I-10 West you can explore the natural beauty and adventures that are waiting for you and your family at George Bush Park. This west Houston attraction is a favorite of many residents and tourists. There are 2.5 mile trails for hikers and biking enthusiasts to enjoy and the park also has a model airplane field. 15 acres of land is fenced and it has been dedicated as a dog park. Visitors can enjoy swimming, picnics, soccer, baseball and horseback rides all at this enormous outdoor attraction.
8944 A Clarkcrest is where you will discover Houston’s Theatre Southwest. This intimate setting was founded more than 50 years ago by the Pearsall family and it has earned a stellar reputation as a presenter of outstanding live theater performances. Many New York, LA and Broadway stars have been seen on the stage of Theatre Southwest.
The William Reaves Fine Art Gallery is open on Fridays and Saturdays and it is a good idea to check with the gallery beforehand if you plan to visit. This establishment is located in the west Houston area at 2313 Brun Street. The current exhibit being featured at William Reaves is one created by a regional artist and it is titled “Roads Less Traveled: Jon Flaming’s Texas.”
With a great variety of restaurants, hotels and family friendly activities to experience it is quite easy to see why West Houston is such a popular area for both tourists and local residents.
