- Surfing – Was really brought to the world by America.
- Ice Skating – you may not have thought it, but this is a powerful sport in America, as well as other countries as well, namely Russia.
- Boxing – Doesn’t happen enough, otherwise it would be higher in the list.
- Soccer- Although no where near as big as American Football, still a growing sport.
- Archery – Well when you have the likes of Geena Davis, your guaranteed to get a medal.
- Volleyball – Definitely, who ever thought this up knew exactly what they were doing.
- Cycling – A great sport, America has yet to fully embrace it.

- Rock Climbing – The Americans have really taken to this, and they do have some of the best possible scenery for it.
- Extreme Sports – These are the sports you have a high chance of being killed in.

Giggsy: The Biography of Ryan Giggs $12.95 The story of the most decorated player in English soccer history, with 11 Premier League titles, two Champions League victories, and four FA Cup winner’s medals to his name Giggs is an astonishing player with an unparalleled career, and here is his amazing story. By the time he made his Manchester United first team debut at 17, many considered Giggs to be the greatest talent since George Best. By the advent of the Premier League in 1992, he was firmly established as United’s left winger, a position he continued to dominate until late in his career, when Ferguson switched him to a deeper role in central midfield. Famed for his pace and skill on the ball, Giggs has scored vital goals throughout his career, most notably his incredible solo effort in the 1999 FA Cup semi-final replay against Arsenal. He was an integral part of the historic 1999 Treble-winning side, and is the only Man U player to have played in both the 1999 and 2008 Champions League victories. Giggs eclipsed Bobby Charlton’s record in April 2009, when he made his 800th appearance for United. That year also brought his 11th Premier League winner’s medal and the PFA Player of the Year award. Giggs has scored nearly 150 goals for United and his incredible record with the club has ensured that he will go down in history as one of United’s greatest ever players. |

Motion: American Sports Poems $19 Sports have long served as inspiration for poetry-the ancient Greeks wrote odes in praise of their athletes-so it is little surprise that in a culture as obsessed with athletes as our own sports would exert an influence on contemporary poets. Motion: American Sports Poems rescues sports from our society’s focus on superstars, multimillion-dollar contracts, and gold medals to capture champions and losers, competitors and spectators in moments that are anything but fleeting. As Noah Blaustein points out in his preface, among the many parallels made between sports and poetry is the idea of transcendence. Forged from the most basic elements of sport-energy, movement, and rhythm-the poems in this anthology reflect something universal: sport as metaphor, sport as struggle, sport as the battleground for mythic figures and local heroes. The often celebrated sports-baseball, boxing, football, and basketball-are here along with unexpected pastimes like surfing, skateboarding, tennis, soccer, karate, rock climbing, bowling, and curling. Young and old, black and white, male and female, the poets in this anthology celebrate everyone who has come together in the shimmy and shake and sweat of sport. |

Washington Sports Trivia $14.95 Essential information and outrageous anecdotes…a must-read for every true Washington sports fan that showcases the long-standing rivalries, quirky characters and memorable moments of both amateur and pro sports in Washington State: • Mariners Ken Griffey Sr. and Ken Griffey Jr. were the first father-son duo to play together on the same major-league team; they also hit back-to-back homers • Sports Illustrated once called bowling’s first Million Dollar Man, Earl Anthony of Tacoma, “the second greatest athlete from the state of Washington,” behind only the great John Stockton of Zags and Utah Jazz • In 1930, Orin E. “Babe” Hollingbery led the WSU Cougars football team to the Rose Bowl, their last appearance in that bowl game for 67 years • Seattle Sounders FC midfielder Freddie Ljungberg is perhaps as famous for modeling Calvin Klein underwear as he is for his work on the soccer field • At the 1936 Berlin Olympics, the UW Huskies rowing crew took gold medals in shocking victories over the Germans and Italians, much to the ire of Adolf Hitler • Only in Seattle could an indoor NBA game get rained out–on January 5, 1986, the Sonics were playing the Phoenix Suns at the aging, leaky Seattle Center Coliseum. • And much more. |
