Us, and our so called “Morals”

Foreword:
“I’m not comin’ back. Cause I ain’t leavin’.

Different Places.

Have you ever noticed the things that make you happy? Chances are you have. We’ve all got our own special comfort food, or pair of cozy pyjamas to wear. Or our 3 year old socks we’ve never washed cause they were “lucky”, oh, and don’t forget our favourite songs. Whether it is material or not, we all have our own things that we like and do, that make us feel better, about everything and anything. Now I’m not some sort of scientist, or psychologist that studies these kinds of things that you will have the opportunity to read about should you decide that I’m not some sort of arrogant human being rambling on about my own free thoughts and ideas. Run on sentence. But seriously. Should one not be allowed to have their own personal ideas expressed freely? Should we able to use but at the start of a sentence? Should one be forced to hold in information on the premises that it is offensive? Or embarrassing to themselves, or others? Should we be scared to tell people what we really think? Should I be asking all of these questions? Maybe, I don’t know any more than you, or he, or she does. Maybe there is no limit to the questions we should be allowed to ask. Maybe they didn’t really go to the moon. Maybe.
Should we not sleep on waterbeds? Don’t make them so comfortable then. We all have at least one idea, or places or, for lack of a better word, thing. That makes us happy, or excited, or gives us butterflies and goose bumps. Goose. What a silly word. I like it. There are places that exist naturally that we can’t help going towards. Places that make us feel warm, paths. Paths that exist so we can walk along them and find out where they go, the ideas we seize and hold on to. That keeps us going; bring us joy, happiness, wisdom, and experience. Ideas like space travel, music, poetry, taxes….., love.
They say it is easier to smile than to frown. Maybe this is true, but it’s definitely harder to have something that makes you happy enough to smile all the damn time then it is to frown. Maybe we have so many things going on within our lives that we want to smile all the time and we do smile often. But in the end frowns always catch up to us. Some of us have probably discovered these ideas; maybe some of us don’t even care and like to live life totally ignoring these kinds of things. Some of us don’t need “this”. Some of us do…and this is why.
November 9th, 2010. A day I will always remember. The day Call of Duty: Black Ops was released. Most importantly though. The day that I found my path, the place that gives me butterflies, the place I know that is deeply engraved in my heart and is my true euphoria, my paradise. The person I want to spend the rest of my life with, to do great things with. To have a family with. To marry. To grow old with. Now I’ve known this wonderful human being for some time. So you might ask why I hadn’t realized this sooner. Well, I can’t really tell you that. Maybe I’m slow, maybe my place was hiding in the most peculiar way that it didn’t occur to me to look for it there. Maybe I wasn’t looking. Now it may sound corny, but, as you might remember from earlier, does it really matter? Are we some almighty being that takes supreme judgement on everything that has ever gone down?
I was walking down the sidewalk on this beautiful fall day and it occurred to me that all I could smell was her perfume. Yes, I am a man if you must know. Why does “perfume” refer to the female variety of products, and “cologne” refer to the male?  No one had passed me for some time, and no one was following me as well. So I know it was not someone who may be walking nearby. I love this smell, it is seriously the one smell I could smell all the time. It beats out fresh dirt and “Groundball Grape” flavour Big League Chew any day. I suddenly got smacked so hard in the face with this idea that my eyes started to water. I was walking towards her, seriously though, I was actually walking to meet her. She was on my mind and I believe she was on my mind so much, that I could literally smell her. Unless her perfume smells like a cool fall day, which could also be another reason I love her so much, because I love the smell of a cool fall day. But it wasn’t that cool fall day that I could smell. It was definitely her scent. I also noticed that this side of the road was much warmer than the side I had just come from. The sun was already long gone behind the church across the street so it could not meddle with this sort of business. This side, the side with her on it. Was my side too. It was all that I wanted, all that I needed. It was everything, for me. This was the side that I want to be my life. This was our side. Although two people can share one side, does not mean that they don’t have a side of their own.
Everyone has their own path. A path that is unique to their lives, these paths can cross, and they often do cross, and these paths can run together towards the same spots for a long time. But these paths must almost always come apart sometime, for tragedy and life cannot be foiled. These paths do not happen or come in the same forms for everyone. I can’t tell you how to find your path if you haven’t already discovered it, that’s up to you to find. You must look deep within yourself and find what you desire, more than anything. You must then take that and make it your reality. You must. “You must hold your breath while going past a graveyard.”Who made this myth up? What could seriously happen to you if you didn’t hold your breath? What if you are running in a marathon and the graveyard is a mile long? What would happen if common sense was more common? Would we be where we are today? As a whole. Would we be 50 years ahead? 100? Behind? Would we still be here? Would we be reading this? Possibly.
I’ve never done this kind of thing before. I don’t know what I’m doing. So I consider it quite a big achievement if you are. I like the crunch of carrots. When they’re larger ones and they snap really loudly when you bite into them. Raw food is the best, although I will never be one to turn down a good steak if it is offered. This is all I have to say about the different places. It’s up to you to decide where yours is, and who you want to tell about it.

Different Spots.

Different spots are much different than different places. Different spots are the spots that you will discover and get to after you have found your place. Your path. These spots are also unique to each person, they are all different, and they are what we make them out to be. What we want and what we don’t want. They are, in essence, us. I wish I lived in another country for a part of my life. I wish I knew different cultures, ideals, beliefs. When will the world come together and get along with each other. When will we finally realise what we are doing to each other? To ourselves? When it’s too late? That’s usually what happens when you realise something…when it’s too late. Am I right or what? Do we all have our own agenda? Yes, of course we do. We all have our own things that we need, and want. But what is forgotten in all of this self love, is the fact that we are all one people. One tribe. What kind of examples are we setting for ourselves with our wars? Our hate or ignorance. The wrong kind. Somehow we have made all these things less frowned upon over time in our search for freedom. Sure, we need to have freedom, but what is freedom if it is tightly surrounded in the grasp of morality?
I had a dream that I drove a car across a footbridge and down some stairs and was greeted by a crowd of cheering people. What is the point of dreams? Are they sub-conscience creations of our brain to keep us on track to creating new, progressive, profitable ideas? This is turning out to be a lot of questions. I could be writing about something that would be giving you an answer to something; however unrealistic that something may be. Maybe this has to be a lot of questions. Maybe it needs to be, and we need to step back from our glorified position and discover that we need to question ourselves. We need to stop worrying about what is in front of us so much as to worry about ourselves. Think about it for a moment. If you all of a sudden woke up one day and realised you were in a totally unfamiliar place, without any clothes on, and nobody around you that you recognized, or nobody around you at all. What would you do? You would check yourself first, even though you may say you would survey your surroundings, you actually are just fooling yourself. You have already looked at yourself, how else did you know that you are stark naked in a totally random place. Even though you may not have thought about doing this, you did it, and without realising what you just did. This is what us, as human being have somehow managed to avoid doing, without even realise what we are doing. Before we look around and see what we have to work with and how to get there, we must decide where we want to go.
If you ask me, we aren’t going in a very good direction, we aren’t achieving all we can, and we aren’t becoming all we can become. We are rapidly falling off of our path because we forget to see where it goes. Where will we be in 100 years?  How about a thousand? Where will we be at the end of us? Hopefully we’re not here. After all of this time, wouldn’t it just seem like such a waste? Such a waste of time? Would there be a point? What have we REALLY accomplished? Have we really done all we can? Really. Have you done all you can? Are you really sure of that, if you aren’t sure of it, and you shouldn’t be. None of us have done all we can do, not one single person in all of history has literally done ALL they can do. What about people who died for a cause? These people must have done all they could do because they died trying, right? Wrong, they could have done more, they just decided something was needed to be done right there, and right then, and it had to have significance. So they dedicated themselves to this cause. For that, I commend them. It takes a seriously strong willed person to commit themselves to something so much so that they are willing to die for it. Some of us on the other hand will never die for anything in particular. This is perfectly fine, for if everyone died for their own cause, there would be no one left to live.

Non-Stop

This feeling I have for her, it burns in my heart. It feels so good that it hurts. I love it, I can’t get enough of it. I hope it will never go away, never leave me. Never forget about me. I hope it only gets stronger. I hope we get stronger. I want us, I want my euphoric place. I also want her dreams to become reality as well. Even if I don’t know exactly what they all are?
Everyday for the last 3 years I’ve had one thing on my mind everyday when I wake up, her. Us. I may not have always shown it, and maybe sometimes she wasn’t even there to show her it. Maybe I was showing her, however I don’t think I was doing a very good job doing that at all. I mustn’t worry about that, I mustn’t let it get to me. Although I am sorry for it. The world will keep spinning and I’ll keep breathing. I want her to know this, and I don’t care who else knows, because I want them to see what they are missing out on if they haven’t found their own path. The happiness they are missing, the laughter, the joy. Not just of having found your full, but at the same time, blank canvas. But your: “whatever it is that you want.”I hope everyone gets to feel how I feel right now. Let me rephrase that, I hope everyone gets to feel how happy I feel right now. I hope she loves this. I hope I’m not making a fool of myself. I hope I make sense.
I want to cook right now. I feel like I could come up with some sort of tasty creation. I’ve had such a craving for gravy lately. I heard white gravy is good, maybe I’ll try that next time I go out to eat. Or a salad, with eggs in it. Not an egg salad though, I’m sick of those. Anyways, I just wanted to tell you, that I love you baby. I always have. I’ll always be here for you. I’ll always be moving towards you. <3
“My love is like a dripping faucet, the sound comforting, but the force over time great and extremely powerful”

The Walk

“I’m fightin’ for this girl, on the battlefield of love”
-Lil Wayne
The walk isn’t actually a walk, although it could be. It is more an idea, kind of like the old saying “if you can’t walk the walk, don’t talk the talk”. It’s an idea, an idea of unfaltering honesty. If you’re going to say you’re going to do something, don’t just keep on saying that you’ll do it, or get around to it, or that you “want to do it, but can’t”. Just do it. No, I don’t own that line, and I don’t claim to either. So if it’s okay with you Nike, I’m going to use it. Don’t tell me that I can’t either, it’s not like you invented any of those words, you just put together a phrase that I guarantee was used millions of times before they even invented child labour. Did I just say that? Wow, that just came out of nowhere, and you know what, its fine to say that because everyone knows what Nike does over there on the other side of the world. Well, it is the other side of the world for me, but I’m sure I wouldn’t be saying that if I was over there. So yeah, I kind of went on a little rant there, but I needed to. If I didn’t it would have just bothered me and I wouldn’t have been able to express my thoughts clearly since I would have been annoyed at the fact that people can copyright certain “use of language”. What the hell is that? If one can copyright “Just do it”, or “Let’s get ready to rummmblllle!” Then what’s stopping me from copyrighting every single word in the English language, there making it impossible for people to speak freely. After all, isn’t this supposed to be a country with “freedom of speech”?
Back to the walk, this isn’t something you can master like they have on “America’s next top model”. Although, what they do is challenging, and they literally have to “walk the walk”, and they are doing exactly what I’m trying to tell you about, because  that’s what they do, they “walk the walk”, even though they do wear ridiculous articles of clothing and have less fat on them than a head of lettuce. They aren’t lying to us, that is what they do, and they’re honest about it. So much can’t be said of so many other people, corporations, groups, religions, and governments. Is nobody sick of this? We elect presidents, prime ministers, and senators, and mayors. We elect them all into a position of power because they promise us one thing. Change. But does this change ever come? Hardly. Remember when the conservatives were in power and introduced the GST? Remember how fast the conservatives lost their position of power afterwards? Then it was the liberals turn to be elected, I imagine they were put into their position of power because they claimed that they will get rid of the GST. Did that happen? I’m looking at my Starbucks receipt and it’s got the GST right there underneath the PST. So, I ask you, did the Liberals “walk the walk” after they “talked the talk”? Didn’t think so. This was almost 20 years ago, and we still have yet to see a change. Why isn’t there a higher power that takes care of these things? Why is it that politicians and prime ministers and presidents can make all these false promises and get away with them? When will the people stand up and call these people out on their promises?
I’m no saint, I’m far from it. But even I, with all my wrongful decisions and judgement, can tell that this is not morally right. This is not “walking the walk”. I’ll let you know what else I can tell you, I can tell you that I’m walking the walk. What walk is that you ask? Well, it’s not a physical walk, like a model, and it’s definitely not the fake walk that we see all too often. It’s the honest walk. It’s just me asking questions about the morality of our society. I want answers, and who can give me these answers? You can, and you, and you, and you. Do I ever expect to get any answers from “you”? No, I really don’t expect any. The reason why I don’t expect any answers from anyone, is because, if we’re all “talking the talk” but not “walking the walk” why should we give any answers? Why should we be honest about our “motives”? Why should we belittle ourselves, and others? I’ll tell you why we should, because it’s the right thing to do. We have become so egotistical and cocky in this day and age that we seem to forget how to criticize ourselves. There’s nothing wrong with a little criticism when it’s going to help us exponentially in the future.
You know what the main root of this problem is? Well, there isn’t just one problem, there’s many. Money could be one of them. But the other goes back much further than money. Can you guess what it is? If you guessed religion, congratulations, you’re right. Religion, it goes back further than currency, basically, what it is, is the first story ever made. Literally, it has the most known story of all time. It has many forms, branches, and beliefs. But one thing is certain; every other religion hates every other religion. This is just too convenient, as this way, every religion is right in its own way. But if you really think about it, they are all wrong in every way. The fact that there are so many religions with all their beliefs and morals and guidelines and most importantly, “saviours”. Is the exact reason why they can never be true. If they were true, they wouldn’t hate anything, or anyone. Isn’t that the entire purpose of religion? To not judge people, or their ideas, and beliefs? Another thing that makes it such a silly idea is the fact that no matter what you do wrong, you will always be forgiven by your maker if you ask for it. COME ON! Are you serious? This is actually the biggest bunch of bull I have ever heard of. If our countries are all based upon laws based off of religion, shouldn’t we be able to get away with anything without even being punished for it? Theft? No problem, just ask the judge for forgiveness. Murder? Rape? No problem! Just ask for forgiveness, and you’re scott free. Seriously, this is just another way that religion covers its giant shit covered footprint. The story is literally perfect; it was made without loopholes, without a way to be frowned upon. Am I the only person who sees this obvious flaw? Does no one else think it’s a little fishy that religion tries so hard to cover itself up and defend itself that it just reeks of moral failure?
Does a chocolate bar seriously have to have over 30 different ingredients? Is it not possible to make it with basic ingredients, that aren’t all ending with “cerides”? What would we ever do if humanity lost its ability to put “cerides” in our food? Would we die? I doubt it. Please inform me if “cerides” is some sort of tasty ingredient that I don’t know about it. If it is, I’m sorry, and why does it need such a chemical sounding name? Can’t we call it by its true, food name, because I don’t want to be consuming pure amounts of “cerides” even if it is the most amazing thing I’ve ever tasted, and it’ll even give me a happy ending.
Have we all gone mad? Am I mad? According to the “Disneyology” book, I am classified as the “Mad Hatter” from author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson’s masterpiece “Alice in Wonderland”. But really, for those large percent of us that believe in religion, good for you, but remember if you’re going to “talk the talk” of religion, at least “walk the walk”. Don’t listen to everything in your religion of choice, that’s just silly. Just like if you really listened to everything I’ve said so far and believed it all would be. Go ahead, keep your beliefs, and your religion, but please, please, please, don’t force it on others, and don’t bring it up in conversation with someone who doesn’t have the same faith and belief that you do. Most importantly though, do not follow it “to the T” because it’s not all true, well, most of it isn’t true. Also, do not try to justify the “solidity” of your beliefs by discriminating on others beliefs. If religion is supposed to make us a better people, why the hell do we murder and accuse each other because we all don’t believe in the same thing? Do people nowadays honestly believe in a talking snake? Hell, even if I had never been to a school and lived in the middle of nowhere and never had any human contact for my entire life, I would have the COMMON SENSE to know that there could never be a talking snake. Snakes don’t even have vocal cords. What a terrible flaw in the story, why couldn’t it have been a parrot, at least a parrot may have heard someone talking earlier and just repeated what it heard before to the next poor soul who happened to walk by?
“Walking the walk.” What a perfect quote, it’s honest, and it pretty much explains itself. We all have our own walk to walk, and we all have our own places that it may lead us. Myself, I am going to walk the walk of the most important promise I’ve ever made, the one I made to the most important person in my life. She knows who she is. I hope she wants to walk the walk that she has chosen for herself, and not be so quick to point out the flaws of everyone else, unless that’s what she has chosen to do. I hope she wants to do important things herself, and with me, and with others. I hope we are together for a long time. I hope we never grow tired of each other, and I promise to walk my walk as straight as I possibly can. I only ask two things of her; to walk with me, and to promise me that, should I start to stray from my path, to tell me about it. To let me know where I am going wrong and to help me see the errors of my ways. I promise to keep these promises for her as well.
I want to do something really important together with her. I want people to remember us for a long time. I want our ideas and values to be cherished as deeply as religion is. But I never want them to turn into religion, religion is a poison that pollutes our minds, and tears us apart. I want our ideas and our values to bring people together, because at the rate we’re going, we’re going to need each other, humanity as a whole, more than ever.

The Way You Are.

Why does everyone think they are right all the time? I’m probably wrong for saying this, but in all honesty, what makes the presidents decisions “right”? What makes the pastors, the police officer, and the psychologist? Sure all of these people have their so called “professions”, but does that make them an expert on the judgement of morality? Does the president really want what is best for the people? Then where is the free health care? Does the pastor really believe in living a sin free life? When he’s going around molesting little children? Does the police officer really believe the gorgeous young lady he just pulled over for going 40 km/h over the speed limit deserves just a warning? Does the psychologist really know any other questions besides “how does that make you feel?” Are they really qualified to judge your entire life? Let alone tell you what needs to be done with it? After all, not everyone does the same thing and everyone has the exact same life.
This is the main problem with our society, we don’t even know what the hell is going on with ourselves, but somehow we’ve decided that it’s okay for us to judge each other. This is never going to get us anywhere, constant judgement; our entire lives might as well be in a court room in front a jury. Are we in need of a new profession? A new position of power? To hell with our kings, queens, presidents, princes, prime ministers. Don’t you think a singular government would benefit us so much more? Take a look at our planet, our politics, our love of money, our hate for others, and our hate for difference. One government could erase all of this, address the more important problems and leave the unethical, unimportant, and unnecessary problems behind, for the people to deal with. We need to look towards our future. We need to decide what is important to humanity, and we need to decide this as a people. Not a bunch of groups of people with different ideals and ethics. Can we not reach a conclusion about what humanity wants as a whole? Is it that hard to grasp? The fact that if we don’t do something soon, we will run out of time to do it. Our entire existence will have been one huge waste of time. What do we want to be remembered for? Surely we have some idea of what we want that to be.
There have been many important inventions in the short span of humanity. Penicillin, air travel, the internet, computers, space travel. These are all great discoveries and all, but where do they get us? All they’ve done over time is boost our egos so greatly, that we think we’re going to live forever, they lead us to believe we are immortal. We are NOT immortal, and sooner or later, we all run out of time. So I ask you this question, what do you think we should do? Do you think we should put all our time into education? Do you think we should advance our technologies? Do you think we REALLY need sports? Are sports going to get us to mars? Are we going to win the intergalactic Stanley cup? Or the Crab Nebula world cup of soccer? Do sports really matter? Are we going to find the cure for cancer while skateboarding? Seriously. Don’t get me wrong, I like sports, they’re a terrific form of entertainment, I just think we’ve lost all track of what we are here to do. We are here to survive, and with all the things we have in our world, I don’t think we’ll be surviving very much longer if we keep doing the things we are doing, and keep up the pace we’ve set. Now I’m not saying that we don’t need sports, after all, they are a great source of entertainment. But do we really need to have “professionals”? Think about if we all had important jobs, if everyone on the planet was steadily working towards a goal as a whole. Rhyme. Everyone has their own speciality, and we work WITH each other instead of working against each other. Greed is such a useless emotion, if you could even call it an emotion. If we could just put aside our egos for a moment, maybe we would realise that we’d be much happier. Do I think the entire world can put aside their egos for a while? No, that’d be a miracle that God couldn’t even make happen. Considering the fact that there was a god.
We seriously need to take a step back and look at ourselves, take a good long look. Find our flaws, and find out what we need to do to fix these things. Think about if sports became frowned upon, and the people who played the sports professionally were out of jobs. So we decided, since we’re not judging people anymore, that we’ll send them to third world countries, and bring them back up to speed with the rest of the world. With technology, hospitals, food, running water. All these things we take for granted so much that we’ve totally forgotten about the little guy, who may not have such luxuries. I love how we’ve justified our actions as well. “Oh well we are helping them out, we’re over there given them medicine and food, and helping build homes.” Great! We’re helping like what? 1% of all the people that need help in the world? Sweet, imagine if we took all the homeless, unemployed, and people with unimportant jobs that are a dime a dozen and took them over there to help these people, and we PAID them. So now we have a bunch of strong, athletic, competitive people over there, as well as people who are looking for a calling. We’ve already just killed 3 birds with one stone. I bet you never thought that could be done, I mean, two birds is just lucky, three birds…now that’s ingenious. Rocket science even.
But what about when all these people die over there? Who will take their place? Well, that’s not a problem, not at all, how many young children are living in third world countries? How many of those children will be grown men and women by the time the first group of people expire? How do you think they built Rome? The Great Pyramids? We definitely didn’t build all our marvels on this planet in one lifetime. No, it took hundreds of decades to build our “greatest accomplishments”. This is no different, I don’t see this being accomplished in a lifetime, or two, or even three. We need patience, we need understanding, and we need motivation. All of these things shouldn’t be too hard to come across, especially when we put our own agendas aside and realise our true purpose: We are all here to help each other, and each generation does things that the next generation can benefit from. We need not worry about the importance of our generations accomplishments either. Because each generation’s accomplishments are just as important as the next, however it may not seem that way, it is. Just because someone discovered something as obvious as the wheel, it has become arguably the most important discovery of all time. All time, in the time that we humans have been around, which in actuality is quite a short period of time. But compared to the lifespan of a single human being, it is an eternity. If we want to continue living and prospering, (not as a single human being) but as a species, we need to work together. We all need our own jobs, our own important tasks that we must strive to accomplish in our lifetime. These don’t have to necessarily be physically hard things, or mentally straining things, although they most likely will be.
Now everyone is not cut out to do physical activities, and not everyone is cut out to be a mathematician. But remember, not all of these jobs have to be the same. After all, we as humans are not all the same, and some of us may be cut out to do things more efficiently than others. Some of us may grab concepts and ideas, and be more creative than others. This does not mean that these people are higher up in the so called “corporate food chain”. These people are not better than any other people morally, and remember, morality is what it is all about. We are thinking of the future you and I. We are thinking about the people that are to come after us. Do we want to leave a polluted, hate filled, jealous, judgemental planet for them to live on? Would we want that for ourselves? Maybe we just need to step back and think to ourselves what we would want done for us, and maybe, just maybe, we’ll start to do these things for each other. I don’t claim to be an expert in any of this kind of thing. But I do know that there is absolutely no way that this would not work, given all of the ideals are followed honestly, and with good intentions. We don’t all have to design the next form of space flight, we just need to put our egos aside and do what we can, and if we all do that, we’ll move forwards thousands of times faster than we are right now, and we’ll be much happier doing it.
I have faith in us humanity, that we can do this. We have to do this before it is too late. We need to love each other like we love ourselves, and if we don’t love ourselves then we need to start. Start with the littlest thing we like, and water that, and nurture it, and let it blossom and grow, and thrive. I’ve find my little thing that I love about myself, my love for the one I love with all my heart. I have planted the little seed, and I have watered it, and I have nurtured it, and now I wait. I wait for it to blossom, and grow big and tall and strong. Grow until it has imbedded itself in the history of human existence. I’m excited to see where it will take me, and I look forward to all the experiences that it will bring me, and the places I will see, and the people I will meet, and the minds that hopefully I can change. I hope you all can see this too, because if I’m the only one who can see it, then we’re in a whole heap of trouble. I believe in us. Please, don’t screw up our chance, we may have many lifetimes ahead of us, but in the long run, that’s literally nothing, it must seem like minutes, or even seconds to the universe, to all creation.

Us.
