Soccer Referee Kits

Grade 8 Referee(Soccer)?
Okay, I just got done with my Referee Clinic and now am a Grade 8 Referee, I was wondering if I should get this from Official Sports http://officialsports.com/basic_11_kit.htm Only Referee’s Answer this question only.
I’m surprised that you were not offered the chance to buy a uniform thru the course you took. I got certified in a course in NY just last summer and did actually but the same kit that you are looking at. Absolutely nothing wrong with that kit. I’ve since added a couple of extra shirts. You’ll need black shoes to go with your uniform. If you play then you can just use your soccer cleats to start with. If you do get this kit then I’d suggest getting the black shirt instead of the gold one. Also make sure you really check the sizing on these. Their stuff tends to run large. I normally wear extra large shirts but ended up with a large in the shirt in this kit and it is still a little roomy. There seem to be far more teams with yellow/gold uniforms than black ones. If you can pick up a 2nd color shirt on clearance that would be a good add-on. The goal in my opinion is to spend as little money as possible before you get a feel as to rather you actually enjoy the refereeing experiance. Congratulations on passing the class! Don’t spend too much money until you find out if this experiance is right for you.

Republic of Ireland Football Referees: Anthony Buttimer, Dermot Gallagher, Ian Stokes, David Ashworth, Billy Behan, Damien Hancock, Rob Rogers $8.87 Purchase includes free access to book updates online and a free trial membership in the publisher’s book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: Anthony Buttimer (known as the “Jersey Referee”) is an Irish FIFA-level soccer referee from Cork. An experienced League of Ireland official, he took charge of the 2008 FAI Cup Final in the RDS, Dublin. Buttimer earned his nickname after a number of colourful incidents preceding and during FAI eircom League matches involving various team kits, one incident of which led to legal threats by the kit supplier of Sligo Rovers. He is one of the most hated referees in Irish football and is widely regarded by many fans as incompetent and regularly has to be provided with additional security at games. He is currently rumoured to be under investigation by the FAI due to the number of complaints received in season 2009 from supporters, managers and the media and may be been cited as a result. Buttimer regularly referees matches in the League of Ireland where he has been accused of being “the main attraction of the night” by Sligo Rovers manager Paul Cook. In the past he has been dispatched to referee local derbies including the Connacht Derby contested between Sligo Rovers and Galway United in August 2007.. Buttimer is best known for having difficulties determining the colours of team kits and managerial suits. At Oriel Park on 23 September 2007, he almost postponed Dundalk’s league game against Shelbourne after taking issue with the colour of the goalkeeper’s jerseys. Buttimer was said to be “unsatisfied” with four colours provided by Dundalk – blue, black, yellow and grey all causing some unspecified problem or other. A Shelbourne director left the ground to search for an alternative kit in the local Lifestyle Sports, as managers John Gill and Dermot Keely told the referee they were on the verge of “going for a pint”. Buttimer suggested both goalkeepe… More: |
