Drills For Soccer: 2 Things You Must Know
There’s a simple question that I’d like you to answer? Have you ever yourself practiced those drills for soccer designed for the kids to follow the same? In case you’re a successful coach, this habit surely has a major role to play. It’s the right thing to do.
Kids learn faster and better by looking at things. As a coach, take the initiative to perform the drills so that the kids not only enjoy watching your performance but also learn fast. Following are the 2 offensive soccer drills that you can train your kids on:
Tight space dribbling: This drill serves two important purposes; improving the fitness of the players and helping them get more touches at the ball. Your kids can perform this drill at the very start of the session when they do the warm up exercises. This drill has numerous benefits. This drill warms up the players along with coaching them on the skills to move about in the field with their head held high.
Tell every player to get a ball. Draw a 10 by 10 rectangle outline using cones. To execute this drill, make the players run around the soccer field while randomly changing directions. In this way, they’ll just continue to swing themselves from one point to another. They should do this for 5 to 10 minutes.
In the course of doing it, they should attempt to do different variations like taking an unanticipated turn, or doing tactics that are new and not predictable. Kids have a tendency to focus too much on the ball. They fail to check that the opponents are closing in and eventually lose the ball. Such soccer exercises teach them to dribble for short intervals keeping the opposition in check.
3 v 3; this drill is one out of very few efficient drills for soccer. It helps the players practice on wall passes and retains the possession of the ball for longer intervals. Nonetheless, make sure that when players perform the drill, they don’t focus a lot on scoring. The objective of this drill is to retain the possession of the ball for long periods.
Divide the players into groups or teams of 8. Make 6 players stand in a way that they face each other while the remaining 2 stand on each sides of the rectangle. The team that has the possession of the ball can use players on both sides but the players on the sides can touch the ball only once. Also, they are not allowed to score.
This has a lot of positive effect on the player’s ability to dribble, shoot and control the ball. This soccer practice also helps the players by way of drastically increasing their stamina and energy.
